The Bake Cell Foundation (TBCF) is a nonprofit organization founded by Dr. Valerie Lewis, a biomedical scientist and educator who believes science should be accessible, engaging, and connected to real-world experiences. Inspired by her background in biomedical research and her passion for baking, Dr. Lewis created TBCF to combine STEM education, creativity, and community impact in a way that is both meaningful and fun.

At the heart of TBCF is the BEEP Program (Baking Education and Enrichment Program), a student-run bakery and workforce development initiative designed for teens in the OKCPS district. Through hands-on experience in baking, food safety, customer service, marketing, and business operations, students gain practical workforce skills while exploring the science behind baking and food production.

In addition to operating the bakery, students help develop and lead interactive STEM activities for younger students in underserved communities, particularly at the K–6 grade levels. These programs are designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and introduce science in a way that feels approachable, exciting, and relevant to everyday life.

What makes TBCF unique is its fusion of science, education, workforce development, and community engagement. By transforming a bakery into a platform for learning and opportunity, TBCF is creating a space where students can develop skills, discover passions, and make a meaningful impact in their communities.
